Notes:  Mid week training starts at  5pm on Tuesday and Thursday and 4 pm on Wednesday.  I strongly encourage any athletes to be on the hill well before to get warmed up and help staff prepare the hill.  We typically meet on the hill at either Upper Debbies or Sessel pistes.  If we get snow this week, we will likely spend one day this weekend free skiing at Alpental. Make sure to check the hotline for last minute changes.

J3 Qualifier #1: Traveling with the team, Allie M, Chris I, Preston N, Michaela C, Brynn A.  There is still room available to travel and stay with the team.  We will be staying at the Quality Inn Valley Suites.  Trip costs including Transportation and hotel breakfast is $275.  Lunches and Dinner will be on your own with coaches helping to facilitate grocery and or restaurant runs as needed.  I will email out paypal invoices this afternoon.  Coaches Evan and Naomi.

Traveling on own: Millie H and Dylan M.  I need confirmations from anyone else planning to race to make sure you get on the board.  Online registration is available until January 6th.

Finally, Paypal: It is the parent's responsibility to pre pay for all TAS travel.  I send paypal invoices to the email address received during program registration.  If you make an account with paypal all invoices will be shown, then you simply pay.  This has somehow become the most annoying and time consuming part of this position and it shouldn't be.  I am happy to answer any questions regarding break downs of trip costs.  Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Christmas Camp

Happy Holidays,

Christmas camp begins December 27 and runs through December 31st.

There is a lot going on over this 5 day period and it is important that athletes are getting proper nutrition, hydration and rest.  The focus for this week is preparation for the Web Moffett and NWC #2 races.  If an athlete is looking tired I will ask him or her to sit out a session.  We need higher quality training sessions with more focus and better energy to achieve our goals.

Schedule of Events:

December 27:  Early SG Training.  Athletes meet at TAS Shack at 7:15, van departs Eastgate at 6:15, sign up online.  No late athletes can speed train.

Two important notes: 1) the area may allow us to load at 7, which would push the schedule 15 minutes earlier and 2) This session will be canceled at 12pm on the 26th if weather looks to be an issue.  Please check the TAS hotline on the 26th.

Following SG training we will take a break and then work on speed fundamentals from 11:30-2pm.  GS or SG skis are fine.

December 28th: Early SG Training. Athletes meet at TAS Shack at 7:15, van departs Eastgate at 6:15, sign up online.  No late athletes can speed train.

Following SG we will train GS until 12pm.  The afternoon will be directed free skiing or off depending on individualized athlete needs.

December 29th: GS and Slalom race prep.  Bring both GS and SL skis and we will compete in a time trial format.  Athletes meet at TAS Shack at 8:45.

From 3:30 until 4:30pm Jim Mates from Custom Boot Service will give a boot fitting clinic for Parents and Junior athletes.  I strongly encourage your attendance.  Equipment is a major part of this sport and our team's general lack of knowledge affects our ability to perform on race day.

December 30th: Web Moffett Cup SL.  Make sure you are signed up online. Van at 6:15, sign ups online

December 31st: Web Moffett Cup GS. Van at 6:15, sign ups online

Upcoming Races:

1) NWC #2 @ Schweitzer. I have booked rooms at the Guest House Lodge in Sandpoint.  The team will depart on January 3rd at 3pm, Train and free-ski on the 4th, and race the 5th through the 8th, returning late Sunday night. Food will be on your own, with coaches helping to facilitate grocery runs as needed.  Coaches will be Jimmy and Denny

I will send in a team entry.  Athletes so far confirmed: Ally L, Danni R, Linnea B, Kat Haugen, Rachel N, Matt M, Justin B.  Waiting on confirmation: Max W.  Not attending: Kyle M.

Once athletes are confirmed I can send out invoices, prices should be comparable per day to Mission last week.

2) J3 qualifier #1 @ Mt. Spokane.  The team will depart on January 12th at 3pm.  Train the 13th and race the 14th-16th.  Registration is on your own, information can be found here.  We have room for 9 athletes in the van (sign ups online).  If you plan to travel and stay with the team please reply to this message.  We plan to stay at the Quality Inn. All athletes are required to attend scheduled team meetings.

Mid Week training begins January 3rd.  Tuesday and Thursday training will be from 5-7pm with vans departing Eastgate at 4pm.  Van sign ups are online.  Finally, we have an additional Wednesday evening session available from 4-6pm with vans departing at 3pm.  This session will be shared with SPAC and will give us a good opportunity to train with fast athletes.  The additional cost is $350.

See everyone next week,

-Evan

Greetings, Great starting weekend! You should all be proud of the progress made in the the past year.
